A Logo is Born (And Some Furry & Feathered Friends Tagged Along)

The Honeysada crew has been quietly working on our brand. This has been a labour of love, slowly crafted during spare moments across many months and we’re excited to finally share it with you. We’ve been sitting on this secret for so long, we were starting to feel like squirrels hiding a particularly shiny acorn.

We were in need of a few key things: a logo, a website/blog, a way to stay in touch with you all, and most excitingly… some merch worthy of our Honeysada community. Check, check, check, and check (with more designs on the way!).

It all started as one of those tasks that seems simple until you’re staring at a blank screen wondering how to make a feeling into a picture. So here is the tale of how Honeysada got its face, shortly followed by three of our wildly different characters, in design form, for our new lines of merch.

The Logo

We knew the vibe we wanted to hit: that unique intersection of wilderness, nurturing care, and hands-on carpentry/engineering skill. But how do you draw that? After many scribbles, a lot of coffee, and a few minor existential crises, we decided to combine a bee and a tool.

The bee was an obvious starting point. But we needed something to represent the “know-how.” We went through every tool imaginable : A Hammer? No. A Saw? No. A Screwdriver? Definitely not. So you see our dilemma.

Then we landed on the drafting compass, a classic tool for precision and design. The real challenge was merging the two without it looking like the bee was being dissected or plucked! This is where our fantastic online logo designer, Hanifa, worked her magic. After a collaborative back-and-forth, we cracked it. The best surprise was the final result: the compass and bee together created a third feeling of movement and energy, like a little superhero ready to get things done!

The tagline fell perfectly into place:

  • Nature: For the wilderness and the inherent nature of our animals.
  • Nurture: For the bee-keeping and animal rescues.
  • Know-How: For the endless practical skills Darius brings to the table.

We finished it with a color palette of sage green, honey gold, and dark moss, accented with subtle honeycomb patterns. Darius gave it a thumbs-up, and we all agreed it was a friendly, trustworthy image we’re proud to stand behind. Getting a thumbs-up from Darius is the design equivalent of a Michelin star. If it can survive his practical, no-nonsense scrutiny, it can survive anything.

Character Designs

If Darius was happy with the logo, he was even more thrilled about creating new designs of our favourite characters from the channel for some new merch. We started with Nanny, Dandie, and Cedro, developing two unique art styles for each.

The first was “Stroke Art” style. It’s minimalist, black and white, but with a single, perfect splash of colour that tells you everything you need to know about their personality.

Nanny – Stroke Art

Her portrait is all graceful, flowing lines that capture that magnificent fur and her generally calm, “I have seen everything and am unimpressed” presence. The entire design is monochrome, save for one tiny, crucial detail: her soft pink nose.

Dandie The Dandelion Eating Bear – Stroke Art

With Dandie we wanted to capture not just his strength and presence, but his story. The bold, powerful lines sketch out a bear who is both mighty and youthful. But the real story is at his feet. The single, golden dandelion is his entire personality in one splash of yellow. It’s his favourite snack, a symbol of resilience, and a pop of brilliant colour against his monochrome might.

Cedro The Cedar Waxwing – Stroke Art

Cedro was about capturing a sense of grace and energy. The flowing lines here are delicate, suggesting feathers, motion, and those incredibly keen instincts. He’s mostly black and white too, but with little hints of red and yellow on his wings and tail feathers, a warmth that infuses the whole piece. It reflects his absolute brilliance and the pure, unadulterated joy he represents.

The second style is our “Western Abstract Digital Art”:

Each character’s silhouette is filled with elements from their life and landscape.

Nanny – Western Abstract Art

Her form is shaped from layered, textured patterns that hold within them iconic elements of her life on her ranch: horses, wildlife and mountain peaks, all woven into her silhouette. Look closely and you’ll also spot a beehive!

Dandie – Western Abstract Art

His form is shaped from layered, organic patterns that hold within them iconic Yellowstone elements: waterfalls, geysers, pine trees, mountain peaks, wildflowers and rock formations, all woven into his silhouette. Look closely and you’ll also spot his favorite snack, dandelions!

Cedro – Western Abstract Art

His form is shaped from a tapestry of elements that hold within them the iconic Pacific North West: mountain peaks, snowy ridges, evergreens, islands and open skies, all woven into his silhouette. Look closely and you’ll also spot his favorite snack, cherries!

Our New Storefront & What To Know

We’ve chosen FourthWall as our merch platform because it seamlessly handles printing-on-demand (through Printful) and customer payments, keeping things simple.

After testing samples, we’ve been very happy with the print quality. However, we want to be completely transparent about the process. Since everything is printed-on-demand just for you, there are a few things to note:

  • Returns: Fourthwall cannot accept returns or exchanges for sizing issues or simply changing your mind. Their policy is strict on this.
  • Defects: If there is a print or product defect (we’ve had a stitching issue and a wrong colour shirt in testing), you will get a full refund or replacement.
  • Sizing: Some T-shirt base products run small or large, please check the description to see if we recommend sizing differently from your usual.
  • Shipping Speed: It’s not fast. It varies greatly depending on fulfillment location and product. Expect to wait at least a week for your unique item to deliver.

So far in the store we have T-Shirts, NoteBooks, Mugs, Canvas prints, Throw Pillows, Mouse Pads, Tote Bags, and of course the 2026 Calendar is coming soon!

So there you have it! Our Exclusive Honeysada Collection is starting to take shape. We had a blast bringing our characters to life and can’t wait to show you what’s next.

Let us know what you think and what you’d like to see!
